Discovery Series ESD Carpet offers permanent static protection for networked offices, data storage, 911/EMS, Government Command, Communications and mission critical facilities. Discovery Series static control carpet tiles and broadloom is far superior to commercial "anti-static" carpeting. "Antistatic" or low kV carpeting typically rely on topical antistatic solutions, which are temporary and merely reduce static build-up, not elimate the charge itself. Furthermore, the backings of commercial "anti-static" carpeting act as insulators, blocking dissipation of the charge and negating the careful engineering of your access floors. Discovery Series esd static control carpet is engineered with conductive fibers to safely, effectively and permanently conduct unwanted static charges away from the operational environment. Right under your rolling chairs.
A rigorous test designed to simulate real-world conditions, this test will tell you whether a carpet will retain its electrical properties after it has been exposed to a year or two of chairs rolling over the floor. Rolling casters can destroy or mash the carbon fibers in some conductive carpeting resulting in failed electrical performance and can turn a once conductive product into an insulator.
Julie Industries' StaticSmart carpet tile have been tested for resistance to chair caster abuse. After 100,000 chair caster cycles there was no depreciable change in conductivity or electrical performance.
